Deadlines for Fellowships, Grants, and Book Awards

SAH Fellowships & Grants
We are now accepting applications for the SAH Membership Grant for Emerging Professionals. Applications will be accepted from July 1, 2012 to September 14, 2012. The award consists of a full one-year membership to the Society of Architectural Historians.

Applications for the 2013 Edilia and François-Auguste de Montêquin Fellowship will open August 1, 2012. The 2013 fellowship is intended to support the research of a junior scholar (usually a scholar engaged in doctoral dissertation research) whose research focuses on Spanish, Portuguese, or Ibero-American architecture, including colonial architecture produced by the Spaniards in the Philippines and what is today the United States.

SAH Book Awards
The deadline for submitting a book for consideration to one of SAH’s five prestigious book awards is August 3, 2012. Entries for consideration may be submitted only by the publisher or publisher's distributor. A complete list of the awards with nomination forms can be found here.

Extended Charnley-Persky House Tour Hours
This year marks the 120th anniversary of the completion of Sullivan and Wright’s Charnley-Persky house, which is also SAH's international headquarters. As part of the celebration, we are having several lectures and events at the house, and we have added tours on Mondays and Fridays at noon, which will run through the end of September. If your travels bring you to Chicago, please come by and say hello – we always enjoy seeing SAH members! www.charnleyhouse.org

Pecha Kucha Night Chicago, Volume SAH: "When Less is More"
Continuing our celebration of 120 years of the Charnley-Persky House, SAH will host its first Pecha Kucha on July 19, 2012. The theme, “When Less is More,” reflects Sullivan's use of simplification of surface and mass in the modern design of the Charnley-Persky House. The presenters are: Lynn Becker, Steve Fuchs, Iker Gil, Stacy Hand, Brandon Horn, Scott Rappe, Patricia Saldana Natke, Lauren Silvers, and Joe Valerio. This event is already sold out, but we look forward to hosting more events like Pecha Kucha in the future!

Second Study Tour to Cuba
Due to the overwhelming success of the upcoming sold out study tour to Cuba with Belmont Freeman, SAH is investigating the opportunity to offer a second tour to Cuba in 2013. Stay tuned for more details and information.
