The Society of Architectural Historians is accepting applications for the 2015 SAH Award for Film and Video, an annual award that recognizes the most distinguished work of film or video on the history of the built environment. The deadline to apply for the 2015 award is August 1, 2014. Apply online at sah.org/film-award.

The most important criterion for the SAH Award for Film and Video is the work’s contribution to the understanding of the built environment, defined either as deepening that understanding or as bringing that understanding to new audiences. Other criterion include a high standard of research and analysis and excellence in design and production.

The award is global in scope, and the topic of the film or video must be any aspect of the built environment including, but not limited to, the history of buildings, interiors, monuments, landscapes, cultural landscapes, urbanism, designers, engineers, clients, preservation, conservation or citizen engagement.

The award will consist of a certificate and citation to be presented at the Awards Ceremony at the Society’s 2015 Annual Conference in Chicago, April 15-19.

The inaugural SAH Award for Film and Video was presented to Alysa Nahmias and Benjamin Murray for their film Unfinished Spaces at the Society’s 2014 Annual Conference in Austin, Texas.
