Ken Tadashi Oshima Lectures on Wright at 150 at Darwin Martin House, Buffalo, NY

On July 7, 2017, Ken Tadashi Oshima presented “In Between Space: Frank Lloyd Wright’s Interchange with Japan” at Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin Martin House complex visitor center - the Eleanor and Wilson Greatbatch Pavilion. This is the second of six monthly lectures from “Wright at 150: Lecture Series” presented by Martin House, which features six curators who contributed to MoMA’s retrospective exhibit: Frank Lloyd Wright at 150: Unpacking the Archive (running through October 1st of this year).

In his talk, Professor Oshima, (University of Washington), explores the dynamic dialogue between East and West in Wright’s work before and after the Martin House commission – from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, first 1905 trip to Japan, and decade-long design development of the Imperial Hotel and beyond.
