SAHARA Updates

On April 1, 2009 SAHARA went live and SAH members are now able to share their digital images with other members of the Society, and to download the images contributed by others.  The launch took place at the Society's 62nd Annual Meeting in Pasadena.  SAHARA is a new online academic resource for SAH, and its three-year development period has been funded by grants from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.  The Society's technology partner for SAHARA is ARTstor, the New York-based digital archive containing more than one million images for teaching in research in the arts and humanities.  The Society also has partnered with the libraries at Brown University, MIT and University of Virginia, to help scholars contribute the initial 10,000 images that populated SAHARA at its launch.

SPOTLIGHT

SAH invites you to join hundreds of other architectural historians, architects, preservationists and others who share an interest in the built environment by submitting your digital images to SAHARA.  The success of SAHARA depends on SAH members contributing to this new, shared online image archive.
