CFP: 12th International Bauhaus-Colloquium Weimar, April 04-07, 2013

The 12th International Bauhaus-Colloquium at the Bauhaus-University Weimar, the oldest and most renowned conference on architectural theory and history in the German speaking realm, takes on the 150th birthday of the Belgian architect, artist and designer Henry van de Velde as a chance to ask for modern conceptions of the Gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art) in the 20th century and its impact on current architectural discourse. In this way, the colloquium will be dedicated to an important aspect of the Bauhaus's history, as well as a key element of the modern conception of architecture in general. In addition, connections will be made to a larger discourse by going further into the topics of previous Bauhaus-Colloquia as well as current discussions about the experience of image and space, immersion, mediality, aura and authenticity, which will be viewed from an interdisciplinary perspective.
