Northampton Historic Preservation Society Lecture on the Lawn at Vaucluse

If you have an interest in historical plantations in Northampton County, you may wish to join the Northampton Historical Preservation Society on Sunday, June 29th at 2:00 for an afternoon at the lovely Vaucluse in Machipongo. Vaulcuse is a Tidewater plantation home originally built in 1784 on the banks of the Hungar River in Machipongo.  It is one of the oldest plantations in the county.

At this event, the home owners Linda and David Rogers will share the historic property's history and provide interesting anecdotes.  Vaucluse is both a National Historic Site and a Historic Virginia Landmark.

The Vaucluse Lecture is presented as the first of a three-part Lecture on the Lawn series which will focus on homes on Westerhouse Creek.  Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 27th at The Glebe, the home of Jack Wescoat and Sunday, September 14th at Winona, the home of Mary and Herman Walker.

The Northampton Historic Preservation Society is requesting a $10 per person donation at the event. They encourage everyone to dress casually and ask guest to bring their own lawn chair and beverage of choice.  The event will be held only if weather permits.
