Opportunities to Tutor in Architecture at UON

Architecture at Newcastle is committed to developing sophisticated approaches around citizen empowerment and co-design, engaging new technologies in the actual building of architecture, and accelerating new business models for adaptable design practice. Our students learn architecture in a practice orientated environment, and within a studio space occupied by all five years of the program. Students engage with live projects within the Newcastle region, from around Australia and the world, working with communities to understand and participate in real world situations.

Through our ambitious Architecture Studio courses, we are inviting expressions of interest for tutors to work with students in small groups on an occasional basis, or for a half or a full day a week during the teaching semester. Being able to remain in your own practice is important to us, and our studios are designed for tutors to participate occasionally or on a more regular basis. Our Professors of Practice - Richard Leplastrier, Peter Stutchbury, Kerry Clare, Lindsay Clare, Brit Andresen, Andrea Nield and Lawrence Nield - have significant and regular roles in our studio teaching, while also still remaining in practice.

The roles of our tutors are diverse, but we are particularly seeking individuals, or practices, who have an expertise in the;

 *   way architecture relates to the city,
 *   design and documentation of public buildings,
 *   possibilities and various forms of architectural practice.

Expressions of Interest should be emailed to by Friday 9th February.

Please provide:

 *   a brief statement about your possible role within our studio and your availability
 *   a CV
 *   a selected portfolio of your most relevant projects in architectural practice

Please direct any enquiries to Chris Tucker.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by the 16th of February.
The first teaching week commences on the 26th of February.
