CAF Guest Lecture: Sagrada Familia in the Making

wide_lrg_sagrada-familia-guest-lecture-01

The Basilica de la Sagrada Família in Barcelona is one of the world's great buildings. Hear noted engineer Tristram Carfrae explain how architect Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece--under construction since 1882--will be completed with state-of-the-art practices.

Work on this intricate basilica influenced by Gothic and Byzantine cathedrals is nearly 70 percent complete. The final phrase will deliver the fantastical stonework that Gaudi envisioned, but in ways he could not imagine. Tristram Carfrae, deputy chairman of Arup, will explain how Gaudi’s remarkable creative genius will be realized with advanced structural engineering.
