There is an exciting new addition to the program for the Getty Study Day! Ken Breisch, SAH 2nd Vice President, has arranged an exclusive tour of the Ray and Shelly Kappe House in Pacific Palisades.
Designed by Ray Kappe, FAIA, and completed in 1968, this house represents one of the masterworks of postwar Southern California architecture. Ray, along with his wife Shelly, will be present to answer questions about the house and Ray's distinguished career. The house and more information on Ray Kappe can be viewed at: http://www.kappedu.com/RayKappe.html
The Study Day at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles takes place on Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Tour participants will see two special collection displays. The first presentation will feature the influential work of architects Le Corbusier, Peter Eisenman, Yona Friedman, Zaha Hadid, Philip Johnson, Daniel Libeskind, and many others. The curators will then highlight selections from the Getty’s expanding Southern California holdings.
