The number of building histories in SAH Archipedia and SAH Archipedia Classic Buildings expanded in November to include 250 new entries as well as 1,500 verified semantic metadata tags across numerous entries.

SAH Archipedia

Thanks in part to this work by the editorial and technical teams at SAH and University of Virginia Press, all entries from Buildings of Virginia: Tidewater and Piedmont, a print volume in the Buildings of the United States series, are now available online in SAH Archipedia.

Visitors to both SAH Archipedia and SAH Archipedia Classic Buildings might also notice new text below some entries’ Google Maps: “Note: location is approximate” denotes architecturally significant buildings that have been difficult to locate via Google’s satellite imagery. Some are in rural areas (such as Gus Larson Cabin: http://sah-archipedia.org/buildings/AK-01-IN053), but others are part of secure locations (such as the Japanese Village Houses: http://sah-archipedia.org/buildings/NV-01-SO60). These notations will make it clear to scholars where they can count on geolocation data, and where they might need to research further.  Our aim is that SAH Archipedia will continue to offer accurate information on America’s built environment and to note when that’s currently not possible.
