National Landmark Charnley-Persky House Flooded by Storm

This afternoon’s storms brought major flooding to the Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Charnley-Persky House on 1365 North Astor Street. Water poured into the National Landmark building, which serves as the headquarters of the Society of Architectural Historians, through a second-floor bathroom. The water rushed up and out of the toilet and sink, flooding the bathroom and running down to the library on the first floor. The basement of the house was flooded with over two inches of water. SAH is cleaning up and waiting for experts to come in and help repair the water damage.

Update 8/20: Plumbing professionals were on-site today to find the cause of yesterday's flooding. They found a blockage in the drainage pipe are coming back tomorrow with a detection device to see what is causing the blockage. Service Master will also be on-site tomorrow to dry out the walls and ceiling between the first and second floors.
