Why Buffalo?

Today Buffalo is a community that is engaging its distinguished architectural and planning legacy as a catalyst for development and growth of the city in the 21st century.

The SAH conference in Buffalo will include many opportunities to engage in discussions with not-for-profit, foundation and civic leaders who are shaping Buffalo’s future. These include a day-long seminar on The Sustainable Post Industrial City—Using Buffalo’s architectural Legacy for New Growth and New Vitality and a round table discussion about the changing focus of the historic preservation movementand what that means for the redevelopment of Buffalo’s historic downtown and neighborhoods.

As always, the SAH conference will feature tours of outstanding architecture and landscapes, 35 paper sessions focusing on new research, receptions, awards, and for the first time a PechaKucha (20 slides x 20 seconds each x 8 speakers) at Asbury Hall, the church turned performance venue by indie Buffalo musician Ani DiFranco. We hope you’ll join us and take a seat at the table to ensure that history plays a role in shaping the future of great cities like Buffalo.
