Architectural Studies Now

SAH 2021 Virtual Conference

Architectural Studies Now
Tuesday, May 11, 2021
12:00–1:30 PM CDT

This inaugural meeting of the SAH Architectural Studies Affiliate Group will provide participants with the opportunity to learn from one another about the range of architectural studies programs currently being offered; to share programmatic challenges, opportunities, and other issues that are uppermost in their minds; and to plan next steps for the Affiliate Group’s work.   Like the SAH Architectural Studies Affiliate Group itself, this meeting will be open to any SAH member, with special encouragement to past, present, and prospective directors of architectural studies, as well as anyone considering establishing new programs.

The meeting will be moderated by the Affiliate Group’s founding co-chairs, Daniel M. Abramson and Abigail A. Van Slyck. It will be structured as follows: 1) brief introductory remarks from Abramson and Van Slyck; 2) Open floor to participants and group talk about architectural studies experiences, practices, aspirations, and concerns; 3) A brief interlude, for people to take a break and others stay on Zoom to visit; 4) Two or three invited presenters to talk about their architectural studies programs; 5) More open floor group talk; 6) Planning for the Affiliate Group’s future, and meeting wrap-up.
