Obituary: Richard J. Ingersoll (1949-2021)

Born in San Francisco in 1949, Richard Ingersoll was 72 years old when he died Saturday 27 February in Spain. He had spent half his life in Italy, teaching at Syracuse University in Florence, at the Faculty of Architecture in Ferrara, at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zurich and at the Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona. A historian of architecture who graduated from the Berkeley University of California, in the years preceding his move to Italy he had taught at the Rice University in Houston and had been editor of the Design Book Review. He was a sharp pen in the pages of Domus, and also contributed for other magazines such as BauweltLotusArquitectura VivaIl Giornale di Architettura and C3. The editorial staff sends its condolences to his loved ones and remembers him with affection by reproposing an article he wrote in July 2020.
