 | 75th Anniversary Open House at Charnley-Persky House SAH invites you to take a free tour of its headquarters, the Charnley-Persky House on July 31. Be our guest as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of SAH, founded on July 31, 1940, at Harvard University. Tour the National Historic Landmark house, designed by Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, enjoy cookies and lemonade and enter for a chance to win prizes.

 | 2016 SAH International Travel Grant Program SAH will award between 14 and 16 grants to professionals who work with the history of the built environment to attend the SAH 2016 Annual International Conference in Pasadena/Los Angeles, CA, April 6-10. The grants are reserved for professionals from countries that have traditionally been underrepresented at the SAH conference. Generously funded by the Getty Foundation, these grants will allow recipients to participate in the conference and build upon their professional network. Applications are being accepted through August 31, 2015.

 | Save the Date: 2015 SAH Awards Gala Mark your calendars! The 2015 SAH Awards Gala, Celebrating Our Past, Building Our Future, will take place on Friday, November 6, at the Woman's Athletic Club in Chicago. SAH will present Awards for Excellence to Paul Goldberger, T. Gunny Harboe, FAIA, and Richard Longstreth. Gala proceeds benefit the Society's educational mission.

 | Request for Meeting Rooms SAH is accepting formal proposals for additional programming for the SAH 2016 Annual International Conference to be held in Pasadena/Los Angeles, April 6–10. This is a new process designed to ensure that proposals are received in a timely manner and selected programs are incorporated into the conference schedule before it is announced.

 | Hit the Ground Running Program Kicks Off The Minnesota Chapter (MNSAH) was the first chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians to organize a youth tour for the Hit the Ground Running program. A group of 50 second-graders toured Target Field, visited the offices of HGA and met architects Michael Bjornberg, FAIA, and Dustin Harford.

 | JSAH Moves to New Publishing Platform, HighWire SAH would like to announce that its JSAH publishing partner, University of California Press, has moved their suite of online journals, including JSAH Online, to a new publishing platform, HighWire Open Platform from Stanford University’s HighWirePress.

 | On Teaching, Traveling, and Learning: Brooks Fellowship Summary SAH Blog post by Amber N. Wiley When I began my teaching career at the Tulane School of Architecture I had a specific challenge ahead of me: re-fashioning a course entitled “History of Architecture: Ancient to Medieval” that previously centered on the Western tradition to one that had a global focus. This meant including more sites outside Europe: those found in Central and South America, sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia.

 | SAH Welcomes New Program Coordinator Chris Higgins joins SAH as the new program coordinator. He previously worked in the Office of Service-Learning at Eckerd College in Florida and holds an B.A. in international relations. His responsibilities at SAH include managing databases related to the Society's awards, fellowships, conference and study programs, and working with Director of Programs Kathy Sturm in planning and implementing educational programs. Higgins replaces Beth Eifrig, who recently took over as SAH comptroller. | ||
 | Wright Descendant Visits Charnley-Persky House Elizabeth Wright, granddaughter of Frank Lloyd Wright, was recently in town and stopped by for a tour of Charnley-Persky House with Keith Bringe of the Chicago Chapter of SAH. It was her first time visiting the house, which was designed by Louis Sullivan with assistance from his then-draftsman, Frank Lloyd Wright. | Peter Muller-Munk Exhibition at CMOA Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA) announces Silver to Steel: The Modern Designs of Peter Muller-Monk, opening November 21, 2015, in the museum's Heinz Galleries. Peter Muller-Munk was a brilliant silversmith, a pioneering industrial designer and educator, and a visionary spokesperson for his profession. Silver to Steel is the first retrospective of his four-decade career. | |||
| Miller House and Garden Archive A new online archival collection for the Miller House and Garden, one of the nation’s most highly regarded mid-century Modernist residences has just been released. The Miller House was designed by Eero Saarinen, with interiors by Alexander Girard and landscape design by Daniel Urban Kiley. This digital collection spans 50 years and contains 17,699 downloadable images, including architectural drawings, material samples, photographs and administrative documents related to the history of the property. The 3-year digitization project was made possible by a $190,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities awarded to the Museum in May 2012. Read the press release. | |||
| ACLS 2015-16 Competitions Open Thirty scholars of China studies from North America, Europe, and Asia received support from the Henry Luce Foundation/ACLS Program in China Studies and the Comparative Perspectives on Chinese Culture and Society program, funded by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange. Information about the competitions for 2015-16 will be available here. The online application system will open in July 2015. | |||

Call for Nominations to SAH Board for 2016: The Nominating Committee seeks your recommendations for new SAH Board members who would begin their 3-year terms in April 2016. Deadline August 1. SAH Award for Film and Video: This annual award recognizes the most distinguished work of film or video on the history of the built environment. Deadline August 3. SAH Publication Awards: These annual awards recognize the most distinguished publications in architectural history, urban history, landscape history, preservation and architectural exhibition catalogues. Deadline August 3. SAH International Travel Grant Program: Generously funded by the Getty Foundation, these grants allow built environment professionals from underrepresented countries to attend the SAH 2016 Annual International Conference. Deadline August 31. SAH Membership Grant for Emerging Professionals: This award provides a one-year membership in SAH to emerging scholars to bridge the gap between the Society's subsidized student memberships and the full-cost SAH memberships. Deadline September 11. H. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellowship: This $50,000 fellowship will allow a recent graduate or emerging scholar to study by travel for one year. Deadline October 1. | |||
| SAH Chapter and Partner News The Southeast Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians (SESAH) invites you to attend our 2015 annual conference, which will be held in San Antonio, Texas on October 14-17. Registration information may be found on the SESAH web site at sesah.org. Society of Historians of East European, Eurasian and Russian Art and Architecture, Inc. (SHERA) was granted tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3) on April 2, 2015. As a public charity, all contributions and donations to SHERA can be deducted from taxes under IRC Section 170. SHERA is also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, transfers or gifts under various sections of the Code, such as 2055, 2106 or 2522. | |||
