If you teach, fall is the perfect time to assign articles from the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians to your students. Published since 1941, JSAH is widely recognized as a leading English-language journal on history of the built environment. Each issue offers four to five scholarly articles on topics from all periods of history and all parts of the world, reviews of recent books, exhibitions, films, and other media, and a variety of editorials and opinion pieces designed to place the discipline of architectural history within a larger intellectual context. If you wish to download and distribute JSAH articles for teaching, you should request permission through the journal's publisher, University of California Press.
Assigning JSAH articles as part of your teaching will increase the journal's utilization in your institution’s library and create a strong case for your library to subscribe. If your library has dropped their current subscription, this is the time to gather support for getting JSAH back into the hands of your students. The most recent issues are not available on JSTOR so it is worth it for your library to continue to subscribe to JSAH so your students will have access to the most recent issues. University of California Press has several packages that pick-up where JSTOR leaves off. Consult your reference librarian to see what your library offers.
All SAH members have access to quarterly issues of JSAH, JSAH Online, and the full JSAH Archive. Let your students know about the benefits of SAH membership.
