SAH Membership Grants for Emerging Professionals The Society of Architectural Historians is accepting applications for SAH Membership Grants for Emerging Professionals. The award consists of a one-year digital SAH Individual Membership. Adjuncts and unemployed emerging scholars are eligible and are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is September 30.

H. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellowship SAH is accepting applications for the prestigious H. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellowship, which will allow a recent graduate or emerging scholar to study by travel for one year while observing, reading, writing, or sketching. The application deadline is September 30.

Study Program Fellowships SAH is accepting applications for Study Program Fellowships that allow a graduate student or emerging professional to participate in the Cuba Field Seminar (December 1-14) and the NMAAHC Study Day (September 29). The fellowship covers the single-occupancy price of the tour and includes a $200 travel stipend. The application deadlines are August 17 (Cuba) and August 24 (NMAAHC).

Edilia and François-Auguste de Montêquin Fellowship SAH is accepting applications for the de Montêquin Fellowship, which will provide a junior scholar with support for travel related to research on Spanish, Portuguese, or Ibero-American architecture. The application deadline is September 30.

SAH Awards Four Field Trip Grants SAH is pleased to announce four new American Architecture and Landscape Field Trip grants for 2018–2019. SAH has awarded grants to support field trip programs administered by AIA Chicago, Glessner House, the San Antonio Conservation Society Foundation, and the Seattle Architecture Foundation.

SAH Archipedia: Alabama's 100 Classic Buildings Completed Alabama’s Classic Buildings is now complete on SAH Archipedia. State coordinator Robert Gamble has compiled a list of 100 of the state’s most representative buildings and sites.

What Has Architectural History Done About Recent Immigration Policies? By Esra Akcan, Cornell University Shortly after coming to power, United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order on January 27, 2017, that banned the entry of citizens from Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Professional organizations for architectural historians, including the College Art Association (CAA) and the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) immediately released statements criticizing the ban, and many universities did the same declaring their commitment to the protection of immigrant and international students on their campuses.

| SAH Chapter & Partner News The Docomomo US 2018 National Symposium, Design, Community, and Progressive Preservation, will take place September 26–29, in Columbus, Indiana, and feature four days of engaging programming, exclusive tours, evening keynote conversations with visionary leaders, and the American Institute of Architects’ Trade Show showcasing an array of new and innovative building products and services. Symposium partners include Exhibit Columbus, AIA Indiana, AIA Kentucky, and Newfields. The editors of Buildings & Landscapes, the journal of the Vernacular Architecture Forum, seek original, previously unpublished articles that document and interpret architecture or broaden the context for the study of North American architecture and cultural landscapes.
