 | SAH Announces 2017 Award Winners The Society of Architectural Historians has announced the 2017 recipients of the SAH Publication Awards and SAH Award for Film and Video. SAH presented the awards at its 70th Annual International Conference Awards Ceremony on June 8, at the University of Strathclyde's Barony Hall in Glasgow, Scotland.  | SAH Archipedia: All 50 States Now Represented We are pleased to announce that SAH Archipedia has been expanded to include content from all 50 states. With the publication of new material from the states of Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Washington, we are moving toward completion of the State 100 Project.

 | SAHARA Highlights: Ryerson & Burnham Archives This month we’re highlighting one of SAHARA’s successful institutional partnerships: the Ryerson & Burnham Archives at the Art Institute of Chicago. The nearly 300 images include many architectural jewels: Chicago homes and institutions (many since demolished), sites across the US, and beyond. Most were photographed in the late 19th century.

Allen Brooks Travelling Fellow May, sadly, marked the end of my time in Japan as well as the conclusion of my travels sponsored by the Society of Architectural Historians’ H. The sum of the last days of Saint Denis presented to us through art will indeed try the very foundation of even the fittest of this age. A singular statement in sculpture eloquently captures the mystery that has made Saint Dionysius (Denis) even more potent in death than alive.

| 2017 SAH Fellowship and Grant Recipients SAH awarded 32 fellowships to individuals to attend its 70th Annual International Conference in Glasgow, Scotland (June 7-11, 2017). SAH recognized these individuals during the annual business meeting on June 7, along with the recipients of SAH research fellowships and grants. Read More Obituary: Hilary Ballon (1956-2017), Founding Editor of JSAH Online By SAH Executive Director Pauline Saliga SAH mourns the loss of Life member Hilary Ballon. Active with SAH since 1980, a Board member 2000-2003, and JSAH Editor from 2006-2008, Hilary literally changed the culture of SAH when she secured funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in 2006 to develop the multimedia edition of JSAH. It was the first of many grants that Mellon would make to SAH. Developed in collaboration with University of California Press and with input from scholars across the globe, Hilary envisioned a new publishing platform that would illustrate scholarly journal articles with film, video, panoramic photographs, zoomable images, 3D models, and 3D models superimposed over Google Earth maps. | SAH Chapter and Partner News The Southeast Chapter of SAH (SESAH) has fellowships available to support travel to the SAH Annual International Conference and graduate-level research for those in the 12-state SESAH region. For application details, visit sesah.org/awards. Nominations for the annual preservation award Best of the South and publication honors for peer-reviewed books and articles are also welcomed. The Construction History Society of America (CHSA) celebrates our 10th anniversary at the Members’ Meeting, July 20-22, 2017, at the University of Washington in Seattle. A highlight of the meeting is “We Built Seattle,” a panel discussion celebrating legacy firms that contributed to the history of construction in the Northwest. This event is Thursday evening and is free and open to the public. Sponsored by AGC of Washington. Society of Architectural Historians Australia and New Zealand (SAHANZ) will host its 34th annual conference in Canberra, July 5-8, 2017, with the theme "Quotation, Quotation: What Does History Have in Store for Architecture Today?" Society of Historians of Eastern European, Eurasian, and Russian Art and Architecture (SHERA) and the Cambridge Courtland Russian Art Centre (CCRAC) are organizing the First International Conference “Translations and Dialogues: The Reception of Russian Art Abroad,” hosted by Centro Studi sulle Arti della Russia (CSAR) at the University Ca' Foscari, Auditorium Santa Margherita, Venice, Italy, October 25-27, 2017.
