Maurie McInnis & Dell Upton: The Civil War in Art and Memory

The Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts (CASVA) will sponsor this symposium in conjunction with the exhibition Tell it with Pride: The 54th Massachusetts Regiment and Augustus Saint-Gaudens' Shaw Memorial. The symposium will take place on November 8-9, 2013, at the National Gallery, Washington, D.C.

Several SAH members are presenting at this symposium. Maurie McInnis, University of Virginia, is presenting "To Strike Terror: Equestrian Monuments and Southern Power."  Dell Upton, UCLA, is presenting "The Long Shadow if the Civil War."
