The Charnley-Persky House does not have any onsite parking for visitors. Street parking in the neighborhood is sometimes available, but often limited. Public paid garage parking is available within a one block walk of the house at 1340 N Astor Street or 1350 N Lake Shore Drive. Rates vary, ranging from $10-$20.

Alternative parking services such as SpotHero also operate in the area.

Reservations are required for all tours. Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite up to one hour prior to the tour. If space is available, on-site tickets will be sold. Please arrive about 10 minutes prior to your scheduled tour. Visitors will enter the Charnley-Persky House through the courtyard door, located just south of the front door, and gather in the basement tour center where ticket holders will be checked-in upon arrival. Tours begin promptly at the stated time. The Tour Center also has a number of books and gift items available for purchase.

With advance notice, we will make every effort to accommodate visitors with disabilities. Please note that the Charnley-Persky House is not wheelchair accessible.

The tour route includes a short flight of stairs into the courtyard, three steps to the front door, and a short flight of stairs into the house. There are two interior staircases. Visitor will use the main staircase between the first and second floors and the servant's staircase between the second floor and basement.

Weather appropriate clothing is recommended. Rain or shine, a portion of the guided tour is conducted outside. Please bring an umbrella or raincoat if rain is forecasted.

Photography is permitted for personal use only. Flash photography, tripods, selfie sticks and drones are not permitted. Photography may not be reproduced, distributed, or sold without permission from the Charnley-Persky House. Please contact us if you are interested in arranging a professional photo or video shoot.

Only certified service animals are permitted in the museum.

The Charnley-Persky House has two gender-neutral restrooms, located in the basement and on the second floor. Currently, visitors may use the basement restroom only.

All children must have a tour ticket and be supervised by an adult at all times. We currently do not permit children under 12 years old.

Groups of 10 may arrange for a private group tour by contacting Anne Bird at membership@sah.org

The Charnley-Persky House may be rented for small meetings and events as approved by the executive director. Due to the fragility of the historic structure, we are unable to accommodate weddings. Rental capacity is 50 people. Download the rental request form.
