Obituary: Janann Strand

Janann Fleming Strand (92), Pasadena and The Sea Ranch community leader. Daughter of Harvey and Dorothe Fleming (Chicago), married O. Eugene Strand June 15, 1943. She is survived by her husband, their sons Peter, Geof and Jon and their families. From the 1970s she was active in architecture and historic preservation as president of Gamble House Docents and The Society of Architectural Historians (SoCal), and on Board of Directors-Friends of the Schindler House. She wrote A Greene and Greene Guide on Pasadena craftsman style, and received the Pasadena Heritage Award in 1978. At Sea Ranch she was active in historical landmark preservation (Knipp-Stengel barn and Del Mar school house), CoastWalks, trails development, and community planning.
