Robert Gonzalez named 2nd Vice President of ACSA

Robert González, Texas Tech El Paso professor of architecture, was named the second vice president for the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture.

According to a Tech news release, González will start a four-year term on July 1, that requires him to serve as the second VP his first year, first VP his second year, president his third year and past president his fourth year. He is also the first Tech member to be named president of the ACSA.

 

Through his work, González has sparked conversations about architecture in his community, according to the release. Due to his research, he has also worked with the Environmental Design Research Association and the Society of Architectural Historians.

During his time as the director of the El Paso Architecture Program, according to the news release, González is currently working to change the field of architecture by focusing on women and Latinos, two underrepresented groups in his field.

Dr. Gonzales joined SAH in 1997 and has served on the de Montêquin Fellowship Committee.
