PLATFORM: New Articles by SAH Members

by SAH News | Dec 09, 2019

PLATFORM, a provocative, timely and diverse open access digital forum for conversations about buildings, spaces, and landscapes, launched, in June 2019, by four founding editors: Swati Chattopadhyay, Marta Gutman, Zeynep Kezer, and Matthew Gordon Lasner, all SAH members.  PLATFORM as published recent articles by SAH members:

●  In “Bullets Over the Borderlands: Where Do We Memorialize the Dead? Part I: Dreaming of Free Landscapes,” Robert Alexander González reminds us of the brutality of racism and the need for sites of collective remembrance, healing and resistance.

● In “Towards Teaching Popular Culture,” D. Medina Lasansky argues in favor of including popular visual culture in teaching architectural history. This not only encourages students to engage with the discipline better but also equips them with the analytical maturity to question and improve the visual and spatial everyday reality around them.
