The Society of Architectural Historians Condemns the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

by SAH News | Mar 03, 2022

The Society of Architectural Historians condemns the Russian government’s military assault on and occupation of Ukraine, a sovereign nation. We deplore the killings of innocent Ukrainian people and mourn the humanitarian crisis caused by Russia’s unprovoked military action. As historians of the built environment, we also condemn the bombing and destruction of Ukrainian cities and towns whose streets are lined with buildings that are the irreplaceable material history of Ukraine. The Society of Architectural Historians is a signatory on the American Historical Association’s recent statement condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We stand united with the people of Ukraine and all who oppose this war.
