Richard Longstreth: Fallingwater Advisory Committee and recipient of 2019 Henry Glassie Award

Richard Longstreth was recently appointed to the Fallingwater Advisory Committee.

In late May he was honored at “The Cultural Value of Everyday Places: A Symposium in Recognition of Richard Longstreth’s Contribution to Scholarship on the American Built Environment,” co-sponsored by the Architectural Archives and the Graduate Program in Historic Preservation at the University of Pennsylvania and the School of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Sydney, and held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Vernacular Architecture Forum in Philadelphia. At that latter meeting he was given the Henry Glassie Award for Special Achievement in Vernacular Architecture Studies.The Henry Glassie Award, first given in 1999, is named for the renowned vernacular architecture scholar and folklorist, and recognizes special achievements in and contributions to the field of vernacular architecture studies.  It is awarded intermittently, as deemed appropriate by the VAF Board of Directors.  Read remarks by Kenneth Breisch honoring Richard Longstreth as he received this award here
