All official advocacy by the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) must align with its core mission to "promote the study, interpretation, and conservation of architecture, design, landscapes, and urbanism worldwide for the benefit of all."
On August 15, 2025, the SAH Board of Directors adopted a new policy guiding when and how SAH will develop statements or otherwise engage with issues external to the organization that impact its mission and the professional lives of its members. This policy is posted publicly on the SAH website.
