13th Garfield Heights Landmark District Tour

Sample the Secret Sauce:
Garfield Heights Virtual Landmark District Tour

"Sample the Secret Sauce" will be the theme of the 13th Garfield Heights Landmark District Tour, to be conducted virtually from December 5 - 12.

Our virtual journey will feature five separate video tours featuring historic homes located within the landmark district, as well as select gardens. These residences, built between 1891 and 1914, reflect the neighborhood’s remarkable architectural diversity, including homes in the Neoclassical, Craftsman Bungalow and American Foursquare styles.

Your hosts will welcome you to a neighborhood known for its rich diversity of people, architecture, and gardens. Our homeowners will open their doors to show you the hospitality, community, and beauty – the “secret sauce” of Pasadena’s second oldest historic district. You will be treated to a variety of living spaces, from grand homes to simple bungalows, and explore the connections between neighborhood gardens, food and camaraderie that are part of this unique neighborhood.

Each home is distinct in its décor, as owners have interpreted and furnished their homes both to preserve their history and to meet contemporary needs. You will see original fireplaces with ornate mantlepieces, Craftsman tile surrounds, and river rock fireplaces. Antique furnishings abound, including a Stickley chair, “Liberty Style” English Arts & Crafts pieces, Roseville pottery and vintage stoves. Features that have long disappeared from homes will be on display – hallway sinks, servants’ call buttons and transom window operators.  And one home offers a secret surprise that the kids will love.

Tickets are available for $25 each through Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/garfield-heights-13th-landmark-district-home-tour-tickets-169678774783, or through the Garfield Heights website at https://www.garfieldheights.org/virtual-home-tour-tickets.html.

Purchasers will be sent a link to the video tour that will be active from December 5-12. Also included will be a full-color program book with further house descriptions, history, advertisers and information in PDF format that can be downloaded and saved or printed.
