Chicago Water Tower 150th Celebration
Saturday, September 14, 2019 (10am – 3pm and beyond)
Come celebrate the Sesquicentennial of a Chicago icon!
Join the City of Chicago and a multitude of partner organizations for a day-long neighborhood festival celebrating the 150th anniversary of the historic Chicago Water Tower (806 N. Michigan Ave.) – built in 1869 by architect William W. Boyington and one of the only buildings to survive the Great Chicago Fire.
Free programming will include family activities, lectures, tours, theatre performances, public art and exhibitions – plus food trucks, dining discounts and complimentary admission to nearby cultural institutions.
Organizers include the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Chicago Department of Water Management, The Magnificent Mile Association, the Water Tower Arts District and its members, Lookingglass Theatre Company, AIA Chicago (also celebrating its 150th anniversary this year) and many others.
