Docomomo US/Oregon and the Society of Architectural Historians Marion Dean Ross Chapter are joining forces for a weekend afternoon guided walking tour along Sandy Boulevard on Saturday, September 6 from 4:00-6:30pm PDT.
Northeast Portland's most notable diagonal street showcases a wide-ranging mix of commercial, residential, and industrial buildings from the 1920s onward. This tour will share information on the history of this transit- and automobile-focused corridor and the architectural eye-catchers that stand near it. Be prepared for Art Deco, Streamline, Mid-Century Modern, and other roadside delights.
After the tour, the group will drop into the Sandy Hut for a no-host happy hour. If you can't make the tour but feel like joining for drinks, you are welcome to meet the group there around 5:15pm.
The event is free, but please get a ticket to reserve your place!
