The Giles Worsley Rome Fellowship offers a unique three-month opportunity (September–December 2026) for early-career or mid-career architectural historians and architects to pursue research in architectural or urban history while living and working in Rome.
Based at the British School at Rome, the Fellow will explore the city’s extraordinary buildings and spaces firsthand, develop a focused research project, and join a dynamic international community of artists and scholars. Fellows enjoy full board and accommodation, a £1,000 monthly research grant, Italian lessons, staff support, and 24/7 access to the BSR Library and Archive.
We warmly encourage applications from individuals whose backgrounds are underrepresented at the BSR.
Eligibility: Open to UK and Commonwealth nationals, or those resident in the UK for at least three years.
