Abayagiri Dagoba, one of several colossal stupas (domed structures) making up the ancient Sri Lankan capital of Anuradhapura. It was constructed between 77-80 BC. Explore it for yourself on the Architecture of Sri Lanka tour, December 7-20, 2025.

SAH announces two Study Tours to take place during Winter 2025-26.

Architecture of Sri Lanka, December 7-20, 2025, explores more than 3,000 years of the island’s cultural interactions with its Asian and Middle Eastern neighbors, as well as various colonial powers, within Sri Lanka’s diverse structures. Curated and led by Sri Lankan-American architect Ravi GuneWardena, the 14-day itinerary includes visits to ancient capitals, highland regions, colonial coastal ports, and modern metropolises.

A detailed itinerary and pricing information will be published on the SAH Tours web page before the end of June 2025. If you are interested in receiving update emails about this tour when registrations open, please join our Sri Lanka mailing list

Jungle Kingdoms of the Ancient Maya, February 12-26, 2026, takes visitors to stunning heritage destinations in Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras to marvel at the architectural and artistic legacy of the ancient Maya. Travel rugged jungles to witness four UNESCO World Heritage Sites and imagine Maya civilization while engaging with the still-standing walls of its culture. This tour is co-sponsored by the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA), and will be led by SAH Executive Director and former AIA Director of Programs Ben Thomas.  Download the Jungle Kingdoms tour brochure for a full preview of the itinerary and pricing information.

Reservations for both experiences will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Spaces are limited — especially for the Jungle Kingdoms tour — and expected to sell out quickly. Detailed pricing for each tour is available on the tour detail pages linked above and in the downloadable PDF brochures.

Bookings for Architecture of Sri Lanka may be made directly with the SAH Office through our online portal (once opened at the end of June) or by calling the office at 512-573-1365. Bookings for Jungle Kingdoms of the Ancient Maya may be made through the tour operator Eos Study Tours by calling 1-800-856-8951 or emailing eos@studytours.org.

SAH Tours are designed as continued learning opportunities for anyone personally or professionally interested in architecture and its role and influence in society. SAH Study Tour itineraries offer our most rigorous pace, with longer durations and many stops per day.

High-quality, custom tours are one of the many ways SAH raises funds to strengthen its programming and publications serving the architectural history community. Thank you for using your travel to support SAH.
